|We have a gorgeous, new arena in the Memorial Complex, 17,000 sq feet on the Main Ice, and 5,382 in the Leisure Ice. Both have been renovated and we are all eager to have the building open and to return to skating, skating, skating!|
Unfortunately, we cannot visit our indoor arenas just yet. So, the Town of Didsbury has created new outdoor skating rinks so we all have a chance to skate, to practice hockey skills, and to watch our young athletes have some great fun on the ice.
The Town operates three different ice surfaces:
1. At the old high school grounds on the west end of town (just west of the Didsbury Museum and east of Ross Ford Elementary).
2. A big one at the Jets ball diamond, just east of the Memorial Complex.
3. Southridge Park - under construction. Keep hoping for a bit of a cold snap, and follow the Town's Facebook page for updates.
Thank you to our Public Works department for flooding and prepping the surface for winter fun.
These outdoor rinks are great, and a good opportunity for keeping fit and in shape this winter.
Lace up those skates, Didsbury, and remember to wear your helmets!
Of course, we're still looking forward to seeing our new indoor rinks, and watching members of the Figure Skating Club, Minor Hockey Association, Didsbury Fun Team, Mountain View Colts, Rocky Mountain Athletic Association, and Didsbury Lacrosse Association - and everybody else - back in the arena having fun!
