Arts Festival 2020 Cancelled - Posted: Mon, July 20, 2020, 01:35 pm - By Kathleen Windsor
Following on the footsteps of other major signature events in Didsbury, the Mountain View Arts Festival, originally scheduled for September 12 and 13, has been covid-cancelled.

Supporting arts, culture and heritage in Carstairs, Cremona, Didsbury, Olds, Sundre and the surrounding Central Alberta communities between Red Deer and Calgary.Organized since 2011 by the Mountain View Arts Society, last week the Board of Directors decided it would not go ahead with the Mountain View Arts Festival as previously planned.

The Festival has been an annual event for the past 10 years, showcasing art and artisans of all kinds.

The Society determined the complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic did not made it feasible to host this year.

The Society's President, Merrilee Anthony commented, “We delayed our decision on the Festival until mid-July, in hopes that we could see a way to put it on successfully. However, in reviewing the restrictions and challenges, we thought it best for all involved to cancel for this

We would really like to thank our sponsors, volunteers, and community members who have supported us in the last decade, and we look forward to getting back together in 2021."

All Society-hosted events were cancelled this year, including April's National Canadian Film Day and A Brush with Art, Show and Sale, the Days of Yore Living History Museum in August, the Arts Festival and Culture Days (both in September).
