Valarosa Playground on hold - Posted: Wed, Mar 25, 2020, 06:26 pm
Didsbury volunteers have been anxiously awaiting for spring and the opportunity to gather together and build a new playground in the Valarosa Community on the east end of town. But, Covid-19 has interrupted our plans.

Let's not do the playground until after Covid. As reported by the Community Association, "We are greatly saddened to share the news that the playground project has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have been in constant communication with the builder, and the Town about the project, but the decision was made to postpone the project.

"We value the health and safety of everyone involved, and felt that we would be putting too much risk on the volunteers, the builder, the association members, and ultimately the public who would have this brand new exciting playground, but not allowed to use it. Preventing the temptations of social gathering and children in close contact is of the utmost importance to the public.

"We will be reaching out to the people who have signed up to volunteer tonight and tomorrow to let them know of the change of events and to ask if they would like to participate when we know we are able to build again. This is the same for all of the vendors whom are donating food, or other services to the playground as well. We will still be signing up volunteers to keep us moving forward in the meantime, so if you wish to help, please let us know.

"We will be monitoring the situation as it unfolds, and our intention is to build the playground at the first opportunity we get once it is safe to do so. When this is, we are not sure. But we are hopeful for the end of May or June. We will keep you all informed to the best of our ability.

"If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact anyone in the association.

"We want to thank everyone for their support of this playground, and wish everyone good health. Stay safe!"
