Take a walk-about - Posted: Wed, Mar 18, 2020, 12:41 pm
What a great community we live in, especially from a recreation point of view. Didsbury has more than a dozen parks and playgrounds, several ball diamonds and soccer fields, and a growing trails system.

Building the kiddie playground at Kinsmen Park. With what we're all going through right now, it's important to remember that fresh air and exercise is vital to improve your immune system. Going out for a walk helps relieve stress and gives you peace of mind. A combination of fresh air and sunlight will help you during this time. Just dress properly and fill your lungs with fresh air!

One of the unique areas in town where people can sit and mingle is a "Pop-Up Park" at the north end of town. Thanks to the support of private landowner, Dennis VanDyck of Home Hardware, this has turned into a greenspace where folks can stop in after picking up their lunch or doughnut at AG Foods.

Another is the playground at Kinsmen Park. Like the new playground going in at the Valarosa subdivision soon, funding for the tots playground at Kinsmen Park was led by residents in the community (photo from the 2012 build).

There's another little playground just east of the Memorial Complex, beside the current skateboard park and the new off-leash dog park. Here, you'll also find outdoor fitness equipment.

You'll find lots of playground equipment to play on at Ross Ford Elementary and Westglen Middle Schools.

There's baseball diamonds at Memorial Park on the north side of Hwy 582 across from Centex/Tim Hortons. Beautiful paved walking trails encircle the park and lead walkers to the wetlands.

Take a walk around Didsbury. This will still help you respect the social distancing we all need to respect.
