It started a couple of years ago with a discussion on Facebook and just spread from there. People had heard about the "Teal Pumpkin Project" for kids with food allergies and other issues, and wanted to know if anyone in Didsbury might like to participate.

Designed to promote safety, inclusion and respect of individuals managing food allergies.And thanks to Cary Funk and Twyla Penner, a registry has been set up that includes the addresses in Didsbury where kids can get allergen-free candy and non-food treats.

Inspired by the efforts of a mom in Tennessee, the movement will help raise awareness of food allergies and promote inclusion of all trick-or-treaters throughout the Halloween season.

Didsburians can submit their street address at Your name will NOT appear on the map; only your address. This form is only for Didsbury residents.

While you're painting your pumpkin teal this weekend, use the time as an opportunity to talk to your kids about what it means to have a food allergy.
