|The season is upon us and it's time to get immunized against influenza and protect yourself from the nasty flu bug.|
Influenza is an infection of the nose, throat, and lungs (respiratory tract) that is caused by a virus. Influenza can happen any time of year, but most cases happen in the winter months.
The Didsbury Community Health Centre can give you flu shots on the dates shown below. To book your appointment, call 403-335-7292.
Drop-In Immunization Clinics at the Didsbury Hospital:
November 14 from 1 - 7 pm
November 24 from 9 am - 1 pm
Didsbury Value Drug Mart and Pharmasave also offer flu shots for anyone five years of age and older. Any time, no appointment necessary.
At the Sundre Community Health Centre: November 23 from 9 am - 4 pm
Remember to bring your Alberta Health Care Card and to wear short sleeves.
As the best defence against influenza infection and illness, influenza immunization is recommended, annually, for all Albertans six months of age and older.
Influenza is spread through the air. The virus gets in the air when someone with the disease coughs, sneezes, or even talks. People who breathe in the virus can get sick. It can also be spread by touching objects that have been coughed or sneezed on by someone with the virus.
Start your year healthy, and stay that way!
