|Just before noon on Sunday, November 12th, contractors re-opened the main entrance into Didsbury on Highway 582 over the Rosebud River Bridge.|
The bridge was closed on October 13th due to timing and a heavy load. The piles broke and it was an older bridge, so while it was on the repair schedule, the timing was moved up.
In place now is a temporary bridge and traffic is now able to get into Didsbury the usual way. The speed limit has been reduced to 50 kmph because the temporary bridge cannot handle high speeds.
During the repair weeks, traffic was re-routed to 15 Avenue.
At the end of October, Alberta Transportation Bridge Manager, Donald Saunders, stated that Alberta Transportation is planning to build a permanent replacement bridge on Highway 582 over the Rosebud River next summer to fall.
